Detour Details for Hulton Road Bridge Project
The bridge, which is located at the Plum/Penn Hills border, will close for replacement on April 2.
Work to replace the bridge that carries Hulton Road over Plum Creek in Plum Borough and Penn Hills will begin on Monday, April 2 weather permitting.
This bridge is not to be confused with the Hulton Bridge, which carries traffic over the Allegheny River into Oakmont or Harmar.
The $1.7 million project will remove and replace the existing bridge with a new structure and roadway approaches.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on April 2, Hulton Road will be closed to thru-traffic in the bridge area between Arbor Lane and Kirk Drive through late May. The roadway will remain open to the bridge for emergency vehicles and local residents only.
About 5,551 vehicles use this roadway on an average day. Signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closure. Alternate routes are encouraged.

Do we have a more definite date for the end of this project, by any chance?

Hi Claudia, Thank you for your question. I checked with PennDOT Press Officer Jim Struzzi, and he said they expect the new bridge to open to traffic in mid-June. The installation of a water line was added to the project, which pushed the opening date slightly. Hope this helps!
