District Court: Assault, DUI & Firearm Cases

Here's a look at some local court cases.

 

Plum District Justice Linda Zucco heard the following cases on March 5 and March 13:

  • Charges of simple assault, harassment and defiant trespass filed against Raymond Edward Dwyer III, 22, of Penn Hills were withdrawn. Oakmont police filed the charges after a Nov. 10 incident on Potomac Avenue.
  • Carla Marie Costa, 34, of Oakmont waived a preliminary hearing on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct. A charge of aggravated assault was withdrawn. Costa is accused of punching an Oakmont police officer during a Nov. 12, 2012, incident at the Oakmont Tavern.
  • Bruce Ronald Casper, 28, of Plum waived a preliminary hearing on a charge of careless driving and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Oakmont police filed the charges after a Dec. 30, 2012, accident on Tenth Street.
  • Sherman Steven Jones, 35, of Ross Township waived a preliminary hearing on a charge of retail theft. Oakmont police filed the charges after a Jan. 14 incident at the Rite Aid. Jones is accused of stealing 36 packs of cigarrettes.
  • Djamil Nadee Tinsley Jr., 22, of Arnold waived a preliminary hearing on two counts of carrying a firearm without a license. Plum police filed the charges after a Feb. 25 traffic stop on Milltown Road.
  • Genene Elise Hack, 24, of Lower Burrell waived a preliminary hearing on charges of driving under the influence, failing to drive on the right side of the road and failing to drive within a single lane. Plum police filed the charges after an Oct. 19, 2012 traffic stop on Logans Ferry Road.
  • Jamie Lynn Pozycki, 38, of Plum was held for trial on charges of driving under the influence, failing to drive within a single lane, following too closely and failing to drive vehicle at a safe speed. Plum police filed the charges after a Nov. 6, 2012, incident on Hulton Road.

 

Verona's District Justice Leonard HRomyak heard the following case on March 11:

  • Jacob Biernacki, 19, of Oakmont waived a preliminary hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and prohibited acts. Verona police filed the charges after a Dec. 31 traffic stop.
  • Dillon Walker, 18, of Monroeville waived a preliminary hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and prohibited acts. Verona police filed the charges after a Dec. 31 traffic stop.
