1. Senior Coffee Hour
Where/When: Oakmont Carnegie Library, 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday.
Why Go?: This Friday, the library will initiate a new program to be held on the second Friday of every month. This hour before the opening time is a special library time just for seniors. Librarians will be available to help search for and request materials, answer reference questions, give library tours, and explain the online computer catalog. They will also assist with basic computer tasks. Senior Coffee Hour is also intended as a time for people to socialize, while enjoying free coffee and pastries. These events will be sponsored by Longwood at Oakmont. No registration is necessary.
3. Artist Linda Barnicott at the Boulevard Gallery
Where?/When?: Boulevard Gallery on Allegheny River Boulevard, 12 to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Why Go?: Come experience the “Painter of Memories” exhibit featuring original works in pastals by artist Linda Barnicott at the Boulevard Gallery on Allegheny River Boulevard in Verona. There is no cost to attend.
4. Twin Boro 5K to Support Tanner’s Troopers
Where?/When?: Riverside Park, 7:30 a.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Riverside Park in Oakmont. The race begins at 9 a.m. and will lead runners on a 3.1-mile loop through Oakmont and Verona. Proceeds from the race will support Tanner's Troopers, a group dedicated to raising money for the care of Tanner Young, 5.
5. Saturday Divorce Workshop for Women
Where/When: Beatty Pointe Village in Monroeville, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Why Go?: A Second Saturday Divorce Workshop for Women is being held at Beatty Pointe Village in Monroeville. This workshop is for women who are contemplating or in the early to mid stages of the divorce process. This four-hour information packed workshop is being taught by a family law attorney, a certified divorce financial analyst, and a mediator. This Second Saturday Workshop is an excellent supplement to professional advice and will explore the legal, financial and emotional issues of divorce to help women to achieve optimum results while saving time and money. Individuals will gain important knowledge and resources that will inform, prepare and protect them as they gain a greater understanding of the divorce process.
