Get Out: Greek Festival, Family Social and Story Time

Here are five events to check out this weekend.

Got no idea what you'll do this weekend? Patch is coming to the rescue! We've got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

It's a good idea to have cash ready for these events.

1. Stay and Play
Where/When: Oakmont Carnegie Library, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on Friday
Why Go?: Playtime at the library! Drop in, play, and meet other families with young children. This playgroup consists of about 45 minutes of unstructured playtime for the kids. For children ages birth to 5 years old, with a parent or caregiver.
Pricing: $15, call 412-251-7904 to reserve tickts.

 2. Moonlit Matinee Film Festival
Where?/When?: Oaks Theater, 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday
Why Go?: The Oaks Theater presents Pittsburgh's only summer long festival of late night cult movies, now in its 10th year! The movies will be held on Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m. all summer long. Prize giveaways will be given at each show. This weekend’s show is National Lampoon’s Animal House.
Pricing: Tickets are $8 for general admission and $6 for seniors/students with ID/children younger than 17

3. Greek Food Festival
Where?/When?: Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church in Oakmont, Friday through Sunday.
Why Go? Enjoy food, dancing and music at the annual Greek Food Festival in Oakmont this weekend. Hours of Operation:
Friday, June 22— 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; dinner will be served from 5 to 9.
Saturday, June 23—4 p.m. to 11 p.m.; dinner will be served from 4 to 9.
Sunday, June 24—2 p.m. to 11 p.m.; dinner will be served from 2 to 9.
The patio grill and bar will be open at all times of the festival.

4. Kerr Museum’s 10th Anniversary Family Social
Where?/When?: Kerr Memorial Museum, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: The Kerr Memorial Museum invites you and your family to enjoy the sounds, smells and sights of Victorian Oakmont! To celebrate the Kerr Museum’s 10th Anniversary, a Family Social will be held on the museum’s grounds on Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free informal tours, Victorian period games and children’s crafts and complimentary refreshments are just a few activities included in the celebration.

5. Inclusive Story Time for Special Needs Kids
Where/When:Oakmont Carnegie Library, 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday
Why Go?: Inclusive Story Time for Special Needs Kids is for all children with special needs, their family and their siblings. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver. No registration necessary. All disabilities are welcome and encouraged. There will be a short story, crafts, fun toys, DVDs, snacks, and no worries of sitting still.
