Happy Patch-iversary to the Plum-Oakmont Patch! The site is 1 year old today!

On Dec. 6, 2010, the Plum-Oakmont Patch launched to deliver hyperlocal, immediate news to the Plum Borough and Oakmont Borough communities. Six months ago, we decided to add Verona Borough into the mix!

Plum-Oakmont Patch was one of the first Patch sites to launch in western Pennsylvania. We now have 13 Patch sites across the Pittsburgh region and nearly 900 nationwide.

Though I only have been around as the site's local editor for six months, I have been a member of the community for eight years—long enough to know that this area, though quiet most days, is very newsworthy.

We at Plum-Oakmont Patch have worked extremely hard to give you, our neighbors, your daily dose of community news, breaking news, business features, events, happenings around the neighborhood and much, much more.

Throughout the year, we've received wonderful feedback from you all, and our readership grew tremendously. I have no doubt it will continue to do so.

Thank you to our readers and all the residents of Plum, Oakmont and Verona for continuing to visit us each and every day—without you, this endeavor would not be possible!
