Markosek Wins Another Term as State Rep

Longtime state Rep. Joe Markosek (D-25) will continue his work in the House of Representatives.

Longtime state Rep. Joe Markosek will serve two more years in office.

On Tuesday, Markosek, a Democrat from Monroeville who has been representing the 25th Legislative District for 30 years, beat Republican Mike Doyle, a Plum councilman, for the second time—the two faced off in 2010, when Markosek beat Doyle by 1,600 votes.

With 46 out of 46 precincts in Allegheny County reporting, Markosek received 13,720 votes—56.9 percent—to Doyle's 10,348 votes—42.9 percent. In Westmoreland County, Markosek received 2,303 votes—44.6 percent—and Doyle received 2,862 votes —55.4 percent—with 5 of 5 precincts reporting. These results are unofficial and will become official upon certification by the Allegheny/Westmoreland County Board of Elections.

The district covers Plum Borough.
