Military Connections Collects Life Savers for Troops

The project also can win $1,000.

Military Connections, a nonprofit organization operated by Oakmont Chamber of Commerce Director Summer Tissue, is collecting Life Savers for troops—and your vote can help the effort win $1,000 from GOOD Maker.

History

During World War II, Life Savers accompanied soldiers in their rations as reminders of home. Other candy makers even donated their sugar rations to allow LifeSavers to stay in production for the troops. This year, the candy turns 100.

How to Donate

Military Connections is filling sandwich-size Ziploc bags with individually
wrapped Life Savers candies and a note for troops.

The organization is asking for donations of $10 (to help cover the cost of Life Savers), assembled Life Saver packs, individually wrapped Life Savers, Ziploc bags or your time.

Monetary donations and supplies can be sent to:

Military Connections Corporation
312 Auburn St.
Pittsburgh, PA 15235

The deadline for this project is Aug. 15.

Help the Project Win

GOOD Maker is awarding $1,000 to an organization with the most votes, and Military Connections' Life Savers for Soldiers is in the running. To vote, go to http://operationcommunityblueprint.maker.good.is/projects/LifesaversforSoldier. Voting ends Tuesday, July 31.
