Missing Baldwin Woman Found Dead, Police Search for Suspect
State police confirm that the body found in Mt. Pleasant Thursday afternoon is that of Karissa Kunco.
The body found in Mt. Pleasant Thursday afternoon has been identified as that of a missing woman from Baldwin.
State police in Washington announced during a press conference that the body of Karissa Maire Kunco was found near Sabo Road “where several men doing land surveying in the area had found the body of a white female laying just off the roadway.”
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said Kunco died of a knife wound.
Kunco’s car had been found crashed on Gladden Road in Cecil Township about 9:30 a.m.—several hours after state police had received an alert to be on the lookout for the woman, who was reported missing by Baldwin police.
Wanted for questioning in the incident is Jordan A. Clemons, a 22-year-old, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound black man with light skin and freckles. He is now considered a homicide suspect.
Multiple police agencies, including those in Allegheny County, are searching for Clemons, who is believed to have recently been with Kunco, who lived on Oakleaf Road in Baldwin.
At around 7:30 on Thursday night, an alert was sent to police in Washington County to be on the lookout for a red or maroon Chevrolet S-10 last seen leaving a bank in South Strabane Township, according to South Strabane police.
The driver of the S-10 may or may not be Clemons.
Clemons was spotted using credit cards in Trinity Point in South Strabane around 7:05 p.m. He was wearing a black hoody.
Clemons also has an active warrant for burglary, robbery, theft and assault that was filed by Canonsburg police. Those charges stem from an alleged incident Sunday in the borough.
There is also an active warrant for his arrest through Washington County Adult Probation.
State police indicated that police had possible locations for Clemons, including a home in Westland near Mt. Pleasant, which numerous media outlets reported was surrounded by officers yelling for the young man to come out of the building.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Clemons are asked to contact state police in Washington at 724-223-5200.
