NEARBY: Neighbors Decorate Fire-Damaged House for the Holidays
The house of Fifth Street in Penn Hills—on the Verona Hilltop near the Verona border—caught on fire in March.
A house on the Verona Hilltop caught fire months ago, and neighbors have decorated it for the holidays.
According to WPXI, neighbors hung a big red bow on the house in an attempt to get the attention of municipal officials to tear it down. Officials have said it would be torn down soon.
Verona and Penn Hills firefighters battled a large blaze at the vacant Fifth Street home in March. Though it's burnt to a crisp, its frame is still standing.

The positive effects of fire include stimulating growth and maintaining various ecological systems. Fire has been used by humans for cooking, generating heat, signaling, and propulsion purposes. The negative effects of fire include water contamination, soil erosion, atmospheric pollution and hazard to life and property. Thanks.
