News Nearby: Beverly Bonner to Visit Hollywood Theater

“Basket Case” and “Casey: 30 Years Later,” with special guest Beverly Bonner, Saturday at Hollywood Theater.

A cult classic, live show and star of both are the highlight of this weekend at Dormont’s Hollywood Theater.

Frank Henenlotter’s 1982 comedy-horror “Basket Case” is showing Saturday evening. Beverly Bonner, who starred in the film as Casey, will be at the theater to perform the live variety show “Casey: 30 Years Later” following the film. A question-and-answer session with the actress will follow.

Bonner has appeared in all of Henenlotter’s films, which include the “Basket Case” trilogy, “Frankenhooker,” “Brain Damage,” and his most recent film, “Bad Biology.” She is a comedian, actress, playwright, producer, and director, and frequently appears at horror conventions.

The cast of New York’s Broadway Comedy Club will perform as well, and the show is produced by Fred and Lori Terling from Studio We, LLC, which is headquartered in Peters Township.

The independent film production company focuses on the horror genre, and produces digital films for domestic and international film markets. Studio We also is the creator of the monthly web horror-host show, “Barnabus Bailey and the Greatest Show Unearthed.”  It has three short films in production: “One Good Deed,”  “Undead Holocaust” and “Daisy.”

The show starts with “Basket Case” at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and $25 for VIP seats. Tickets for students, veterans and senior citizens are $10. For ticket details, call Hollywood Theater at 412-344-2958 or see www.casey30.com.
