Oakmont Borough Council Notebook: August Regular Meeting

New truck delivery, grills and more addressed at the August meeting.

Here is a roundup of items discussed at the regular meeting of the Oakmont Borough Council on Monday, Aug. 13:

Street Department

Borough Manager Lisa Jensen announced that the recently purchased 2013 International Truck was delivered to the street department on Aug. 10. The borough paid $102,000 for the vehicle.

Jensen also announced that the street sweeper, which recently caught fire during operation, has been non-operable for the past two weeks. Officials are working on obtaining a loaner street sweeper to continue upkeep on the borough’s streets.

Riverside Park Improvements

Grills have been installed at Riverside Park, and the field house bathroom stalls will be updated later this week. Light sensors will also be installed on the bathroom locks, which will allow the bathrooms to remain open from dusk until dawn.

Upcoming Events

Council granted permission to the Oakmont Chamber of Commerce to host the Halloween Hustle 5K Race at Riverside Park on Oct. 27 and the Christmas Parade and Hometown Christmas Event on Nov. 17.
