Oakmont Episode of 'Showhouse Showdown' Postponed
The episode taped in Oakmont should have aired by the end of the month. It's slated to run some time in December or January.
Area residents who attended the Oakmont taping of HGTV's Showhouse Showdown and can't wait to see if they're appearing on TV are going to have to wait a little bit longer.
Because of competition during the Monday night television lineup, HGTV has decided to postpone episodes of it's show. About five episodes of the new series have aired on TV. Oakmont's episode was the ninth to be filmed and was expected to air in October.
Kevin Oakley, director of marketing for Heartland Homes, said HGTV will begin airing the show when the popular network television series go on hiatus for the season.
"Once those shows go into re-run then all the series will launch—sometime between mid-December and mid-January," he said. "HGTV is impressed with their ratings in comparison to other cable networks, however because this is to be a marquee show for them they wanted to make sure it got as much attention as possible during the first half of the season.
"I’ve talked with the producers and they said they are actually excited because new shows typically do much better in this kind of scenario.
Showhouse Showdown pits two experts against each other in competition to design the best model home. In this case, two side-by-side townhomes were designed.
About 400 people attended the show's filming on Sept. 11. Former season four Bachelor Bob Guiney—or Bachelor Bob—hosts the new series.
