Oakmont Police Investigate Weekend Burglaries

Three homes were burglarized in Oakmont Friday night.

Oakmont police are investigating three burglaries that occurred Friday into Saturday.

Police Chief David DiSanti said three homes were broken into, and one resident reported an attempted burglary. The residences—located on Sixth and Eighth streets; and Washington Avenue—all had forced entry. An attempted burglary on Seventh Street also was reported.

The first one was reported at 10:30 p.m. Friday, after a resident heard a noise. When she went downstairs, the burglars ran away empty-handed.

DiSanti said money and jewelry were stolen from the other homes.

Police are asking residents to report if they noticed any suspicious activity on Friday night. Surveillance footage from nearby residences also would be helpful.

"Someone might have seen something that could help us," DiSanti said.

Anyone with information can call police at 412-828-3131.
