Oakmont/Verona to Kick Off Holiday Season with Parade, Celebration

The celebration will be held on Allegheny River Boulevard on Nov. 19.

The 36th Annual Oakmont-Verona Christmas Parade and Festival will be held on Nov. 19.

Check out a schedule of events:

5 p.m.—The Christmas parade begins in front of the Verona Borough Building and ends in Oakmont. Don't miss Santa, marching bands, lighted floats, horses, a fantastic cast of characters and much more. A $200 cash prize for best float is sponsored by Rogers & Deturk Commercial Printing of Verona.

6 p.m.—Musical performances at the Clock Tower Stage featuring Redeemer Lutheran School.

7 p.m.—Tree lighting, announcements, musical performances by Riverview High School jazz band. Sponsored by Royal Nails & Spa in Oakmont.

8:30 p.m.—Winners of Chinese auction and 50/50 will be announced.

Horse and Buggy Rides on the Boulevard—Compliments of Burket-Truby Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Oakmont Bakery, and Meg L. Burkardt Law Offices.

Free Cookies available on the boulevard near Mae's Hallmark compliments of Oakmont Bakery.

Pictures with Santa—Santa will be sitting outside of Citizen's Bank to hear your Christmas Wish List! Receive a free Candy Cane courtesy of the Verona Giant Eagle and English Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.

Food Vendors—Lots of sandwiches, snacks, and treats up and down Allegheny River Boulevard.

Chinese Auction—Check out beautiful prizes donated by Chamber businesses. Chinese Auction will be located at Citizens Bank with Santa.

50/50 Drawing—Stop by the Chinese Auction to purchase 50/50 tickets, Oakmont Christmas ornaments and more.

Store Front Holiday Window Decoration Contest—Cast your vote for the most festive store window. Ballot Box located at Chinese Auction.

Verona Borough also will be holding the Second Annual Street Festival that evening.
