Gloria J. Bradburn died peacefully Friday evening, June 29, 2012.
Gloria J. Bradburn, of Plum Borough, formerly of Oakmont, died peacefully Friday evening, June 29, 2012, at the age of 85, with her family at her side.
Gloria was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Myron and Cora George Flanders.
Gloria retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital as an administrative assistant. She lived most of her life in Oakmont, prior to moving to Plum. She was a former member of St. Irenaeus Catholic Church of Oakmont. Gloria was editor of the Angeles Paper for St. Anthony School for Exceptional Children. She was a column writer for the former Advance Leader newspaper, noted for her column 'Glory Bee'. She served as secretary for the Holy Ghost Fathers, Dorseyville.
Gloria was the beloved and devoted mother to Kathy Bradburn, to whom she dedicated her life, and also George 'Skip' (Debby) Bradburn, of North Hills, Judy (the late John) Litzinger, of Cheswick, Michelyn (Dave) Morrison, of Upper Burrell, Tim (Rhonda) Bradburn, of West Mifflin, and Jim (Michelle McKnight) Bradburn, of New Kensington; and sister of Al (Betty) Flanders, of West Virginia, and the late Betty Quintet, Verla Hannigan, Carol Cotter and Myron 'Meffy' Flanders; and grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Gloria was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madison Bradburn.
Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Oakmont. Interment in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Borough.
