Patch Pets: Meet Draco

Help Draco find a new home.

Draco is a 5-year-old Rottweiler in need of a new home after a rough couple of weeks.

After recently being adopted, the new owners said he didn't get along with their existing dog, so he was taken back to the Animal Rescue League.

Draco lived with kids in his former home and was very good with them, tending to be a little protective of them which is typical of the breed. He also lived with cats with no reported problems.

Draco is generally friendly toward other dogs, but we feel he'd probably do best being adopted as a solo dog. He's well-behaved indoors and was not crated in his former home.

Draco knows all the basic commands and also rides well in the car. While he certainly enjoys romping outside, chasing balls, and playing with his rope toys, he's also content to be a "couch potato" and relax indoors with his people.

His frame is small for a rottie, but he needs to lose quite a bit of weight (he is 96 pounds at the moment, but he needs to lose at least 10 or more).

Give Draco a second chance and visit ARL if you're looking for a new family member!

Please contact the Animal Rescue League for more information about Draco at 412-661-6452

From the ARL:

We shared an article from the Plum-Oakmont Patch a few weeks ago that highlighted Draco, a 5 year old rottweiler mix who is currently at the ARL. Since then, Draco's situation has become substantially more urgent. He is not doing well in the shelter at all and really needs a home environment to preserve his emotional health. He's the perfect candidate for a foster-to-adopt household.

This guy was surrendered because his owner did not have time to take care of him. Draco lived with kids in his former home and was reportedly very good with them, tending to be a little protective which is typical of the breed. He also lived with cats with no reported problems. He would, however, probably do best in an only-dog home. He's well-behaved indoors and was not crated in his former home. Draco knows all the basic commands and also rides well in the car. While he certainly enjoys romping outside, chasing balls, and playing with his rope toys, he's also content to be a 'couch potato' and relax indoors with his people.

If you have room for a large dog and prefer a slightly older dog who's already trained and reliable, contact an adoption counselor ASAP at 412-345-7300 x215.
