The Plum Borough Education Association and various groups from the Pittsburgh area are coming together to raise money for the Griffith Family Memorial Fund.
Three members of the Griffith family—Plum resident Kimberly, and daughters Brenna and Mikaela—drowned on Aug. 19 inside their vehicle after flash flooding on Washington Boulevard—near Allegheny River Boulevard—in Pittsburgh.
Brenna and Mikaela were students at Center Elementary School in Plum.
The PBEA will be hosting a two-part event at the Boyce Park Ski Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 29.
The afternoon event, which begins at noon, includes a fall festival costume parade, trick-or-treating throughout the parade route, children’s activities, food vendors and children's Chinese Auction baskets. The $5 admission cost includes a hot dog, drinks and chips for the first 500 people.
The evening event, from 6 to 10 p.m., is for adults only. The event includes a “Boo”sino/Monte Carlo night, Chinese Auction baskets and a live auction. The $20 cost includes free beer, soda, food and $20 worth of casino chips.
