With warmer weather on the horizon, more children are out on their bicycles, and the Verona Police Department continued its tradition in teaching them to be safe.

The bike safety derby for children was held at the police department parking lot on Saturday. During the event, children learned the ropes about how to ride a bicycle properly by participating in an obstacle course and watching videos about bicycle safety.

Children received free helmets and had their bikes inspected by staff from Dirty Harry's in Verona. Those who completed the obstacle course safely received a prize.
