Port Authority Accepting Public Comment Regarding Proposed Cuts

The public comment period for Port Authority's proposed service reduction and fare increase began Sunday.

A form now is available on the Port Authority’s website for riders and community members to leave their comments about the proposed service reduction and fare increase.

the elimination of the P78 Oakmont Flyer and the P12 Holiday Park Flyer, express routes in Oakmont and Plum, respectively. The P16 Penn Hills Flyer (which services parts of Plum and Oakmont) and the P67 Monroeville Flyer also would be cut.

Holiday Park and Verona would be among the neighborhoods that would lose all form of transit service, and bus service to the Community College of Allegheny County–Boyce Campus in Monroeville will be slashed.

The Park and Ride lot at in Plum also will be closed if the Holiday Park Flyer is axed.

The Port Authority's feedback form is accessible via the “Proposed Service Cuts” banner on the homepage. Port Authority will also accept comments by mail at Port Authority Fare & Service Proposals, Heinz 57 Center, 345 Sixth Ave., Floor 3, Pittsburgh PA, 15222-2527.

The public comment period ends Friday, March 9, at 4 p.m. A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 29, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh.

During the public comment period and hearing, Port Authority will also take comments on proposed changes to service and fares for the ACCESS paratransit program.
