Roadwork Roundup: Squirrel Hill Tunnel, Route 28 & More
Here's a look at where road crews will be this week—beginning Monday, Sept. 24.
Here's a look at where PennDOT road crews will be this week. Work will occur in the Plum-Oakmont area, on the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and on Route 28.
Pipe repairs will occur on Coxcomb Hill Road in Plum from Logans Ferry Road to Kerr Road.
Patching also will occur on Freeport Road in O'Hara from the Hulton Bridge (right across from the Oakmont Borough side) to Powers Run Road.
Squirrel Hill Tunnel
Traffic in the outbound (eastbound) Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East (I-376) will be reduced to a single lane on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Single lane traffic will occur from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. both nights in the outbound tunnel. Crews will be conducting preliminary activities for rehabilitation work set to occur in the outbound tunnel next year.
Motorists are advised to use caution and allow extra time when traveling through the area.
Crack and joint sealing operations on Route 28 will begin on Monday.
Work will occur from just north of the Creighton Interchange (Exit 13) to the Blawnox/Freeport Road Interchange. Short-term, slow-moving lane closures will occur in both directions at various locations from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday to Friday nights through Oct. 12.
