Sugar Plum Days 2012 Kicks Off Saturday

Here's a look at the schedule of events for this week-long, holiday-themed celebration in Plum.

There are a lot of fun, holiday-themed activities and celebrations in store during Sugar Plum Days in Plum Borough.

The week-long event, sponsored by Mayor Rich Hrivnak and the Plum Rotary, begins Saturday, Dec. 8.

An entire schedule has been uploaded to the media section of this article, but some of the highlights include:

  • A living nativity at Plum Creek Presbyterian Church on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 9, from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • The official kick off at the Plum Senior Center on Wednesday, Dec. 12. from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Santa will arrive at 7 and there will be plenty of crafts, entertainment and refreshments.
  • Sleigh rides, bonfire and refreshments at the Renton Fire Hall on Friday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Train display and more at the borough building; Dojonovic family's Disney Christmas display on Friday and Satuday, Dec. 14 and 15.
  • The Unity Fire Department will host lunch with Santa, and the Plum Borough Community Library will have crafts and puppet shows on Saturday.

There will be more events at Plum High School, Christ's Lutheran Church, the Carpenter Log House, the East Suburban YMCA and Pittsburgh East Community Church.
