Traffic Study for Busy Oakmont Intersection Could Cost $20,000
Oakmont Council members are hoping to set aside the money to perform a traffic study next year.
Oakmont officials are looking into performing a traffic study at a busy borough intersection.
On Tuesday, Councilman Tim Favo said officials received a $20,000 cost estimate from Wooster & Associates of Pittsburgh to perform a traffic study at the College Avenue/Allegheny Avenue intersection.
There currently are stop signs at that intersection—it also runs parallel to the Allegheny River Boulevard/College Avenue intersection. Officials have been reviewing the matter due to the added traffic from the Edgewater at Oakmont housing development.
Favo said council would have to budget money to perform the study some time next year. The information included in the study would be a part of a "multi-year effort" to improve the intersection, he said.

I think that would be money well spent, although sounds pricey. All you have to do is stand there for 5 minutes to see that the people below the tracks coming across and up onto ARB don't make a full stop a good percentage of the time. I think a light of some sort may help.

well that's just great, why don't they spend the money performing a drug and alcohol survey among the teens in Oakmont and Verona and do something about the problem that is still very much real!! as much as people try and brush it off and ignore it!
