Military veterans were honored by the students of Redeemer Lutheran School in Oakmont on Friday.

Students, faculty and veterans marched from the Pennsylvania Avenue school to the Oakmont-Verona Cemetery a few blocks away, where they all participated in a ceremony.

Students read essays and recited poems thanking veterans for their service to the country.

Leading the ceremony was led by the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Naumann, pastor of Redeemer. The Rev. Herbert Schumm, a veteran and pastor of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Preschool in Millvale, said a few words during the ceremony.
