There's a real estate sign hanging on the former Spiral Staircase Restaurant and Lounge in Verona.
This building—located at the intersection of East Railroad Avenue and James Street—has been vacant for as long as I can remember. According to its listing on Northwood Realty's website, it is selling for $69,000, it features a wooden spiral staircase inside and includes a lot of equipment.
What do you think should go here? Another restaurant, a shop of some sort, or something else? Tell us in the comments section!

Antique Mall!

Here are some responses from our friends on Facebook:
Emily Stimmel: Really? There are like a dozen antique malls in Verona, with one a block away from there. (And the one on the border of Penn Hills just closed!) What about a diner or cafe? Plenty of bars in Verona; no good breakfast or lunch restaurants.
Sarah Brown: That building has been vacant for going on 20 years. My family moved to Verona when I was 3 and I'm 27 now and I barely remember it being occupied. I agree that an antique mall is not the way to go. So many things have come and gone in Verona that it's hard to say what should go in there. But I hope it's something good for the community.

I looked at the building as a possible location for a church that is in need of a building. Other than the fantastic wooden spirla staircase, the place is a mess. It would need lots of work to make it anything. At this point, the Eagles across the streets should look at buying it to make more parking.

Soft serve ice cream/frozen yogurt ! Frozen yogurt is making a big comeback. BrrKees is yummy but pretty expensive. There is not a nearby Dairy Queen/soft serve icecream except for the one on the topside ofVerona Road near Frankstown Road. The ice cream store Different Twist on Saltsburg Road in Penn Hills has closed down.
