Southbound Washington Boulevard in Pittsburgh Reopened to Two Lanes
Road was damaged after heavy thunderstorms on Monday.

PennDOT is announcing sounthbound Route 8 (Washington Boulevard) in the City of Pittsburgh will reopen to two lanes. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in the northbound direction through next week.
The roadway was damaged between Highland Drive and Negley Run Boulevard during flooding that occurred Monday night.
PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi said crews were able to reopen southbound Route 8 to two lanes keeping only the right turn lane to Negley Run Boulevard closed.
Motorists making the left turn from Negley Run Boulevard to northbound Route 8 should be prepared for single lane traffic.
PennDOT crews—working with the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA)—are assessing the damage with the anticipation of completing repairs necessary to fully reopen the roadway late next week.
About 25,000 vehicles use this area of Route 8 on an average day.

Additional change: To minimize safety concerns, traffic on Negley Run Boulevard is being reduced to a single lane approaching the intersection with northbound Route 8 (Washington Boulevard) until repairs in this area are completed. PennDOT crews are in the process of implementing this temporary change, according to PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi.
