Here's a crazy idea - how about a park for kids to play at the riverfront? Wasn't green space supposed to be a requirement of the companies that got contracts for the land?

I agree with the suggestion for a park for kids to play. If not outdoor, how about an indoor play space, like Gymboree or Little Outback. A small, local grocery store would be great, too. I miss the neighborhood Giant Eagle. No more bars or banks please.

We have a beautiful park already and there is also new designated space on Dark Hollow Road.

While I wholeheartedly agree that a Grocery Store would seem the best fit, it raises the question: "Why did the Giant Eagle in Oakmont close in the first place"? I have heard various versions of the story, but they all boiled down to that the Giant Eagle configured and sized as it was, just was not economically viable.
While we all might like a grocery store, in today's Marketplace, it seems they either need to be HUMONGOUS or have gas pumps lined up in front of them...But I will keep optimistic that a Grocery Store moves in.

Definately a grocery store, because that Giant Eagle in Verona is SO FAR AWAY. That 3 minute drive just ruins my whole day. Maybe we can get a grocery store that has a bank and a pharmacy in it. Wouldn't that be great!!!!

really 3 minutes to drive t a grocery store - with a bank and pharmacy = in Oakmont. what about Rite aid and Walgreens and all the banks in the area. Maybe Robert feels that is too far away as well. A costco would be nice

That was pure sarcasm. We already have enough banks, spas and pharmacies. There is a grocery store in Verona. Evaluate the space 20 k of square footage is not nearly enough space for a costco.

Trader Joe's would be really nice, or a McGinnis Sisters. What about a shop catering to watersport or outdoor enthusiasts, like kayakers and hikers, a store like Exkursion. I would say a brewpub, but Carnivores is already there with a lot of good beer- if only they had good live music, like the Thunderbird, instead of only sports. I think the sports crowd generallly drinks Miller or Coors Lite, so there is a big untapped market of people who want a good beverage, but also like good music. As it stands, the only place to see a band, is the time machine to 1986 known as the Oakmont Tavern, which is also full of sports. Sorry, I got off track!
