Sometimes Verona may seem humdrum and pale to you, but that is because you have never seen the backyards that are brilliant and lush with flowers and design.
There are yards with pools – swimming pools, fish ponds, and water falls; those that oversee the river as it flows by; flowers that climb fences, are artfully placed in pots, and edge backyards. There are also vegetable gardens that feed and nourish.
If you would like to see these backyards, take the 4th annual Open Garden Tour between 10 am and 1 pm this Saturday, June 16. Maps will be available at the corner of Allegheny River Blvd. and South Avenue where you can also pick up a donut at Dunkin Donuts before you start the tour. It is not really a walking tour, as there are yards for show throughout the borough.
The Open Garden Tour is a treat for all and FREE. If you are inspired and wish to join Verona Flower and Garden Club, talk to any of the yard hosts or email Mariann at firstname.lastname@example.org
