With all the road construction of route 28 and now the various Parkways, Pittsburghers have become very adept at what I call, “Zippering in.”
“Zippering In” necessitates two rows of people, cars, or vehicles. First one goes from row A or B and then one goes from B or A. Easy you would think! Look at a zipper and see that common sense way of slower, but continuous forward movement. It also works when waiting in line.
The clog aka jam comes when an out of area driver or an eager beaver driver, or impatient/rude steerer wants to get ahead of the other folks who are being patient...perhaps frustrated by the slower pace, but still polite. This selfish driver backs up the other lane and if there are any others who are in a big hurry seems to give them license to go with the “me first - you wait” attitude.
“Burgers,” please keep your kind, polite, and safer attitude and don't let others get-to-you during this orange cone, traffic detouring, road improvement time of year. Remember everyone --- Chill! and “Zipper in,” it will go faster!
