Without such dedicated sponsors\, members and volunteers\, the opportunity to share the artifacts and exhibits\, as well as the va luable stories of our ancestors\, would not exist. We want to celebrate those who have made this possible! The house\, built in 1897 for Dr. Tho mas R. Kerr\, is the epitome of the Queen Anne style and commemorates th e lifestyle of a typical middle class family. Guests will journey throug h each room of the house to learn and experience what life was like in t he first decade of the 20th century. \;Music of the time\, such as R agtime favorites and barbershop quartet melodies\, will fill the air as families discover old fashioned games consisting of jacks\, hoop-rolling and hopscotch. Children will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture by creating their own Victorian crafts. The Frick Art &a mp\; Historical Center will assist with the crafts\, as well as set up a &ldquo\;History Mystery&rdquo\; table. Families will have the chance to &ldquo\;guess the gadget&rdquo\;\; unusual tools and utensils will be d isplayed to guess their uses. The activity will surely provide insight i nto the Victorian&rsquo\;s passion for the latest devices and inventions of the time. \;Activities also boast a Best Homemade Pie Contest wh ere pastry-savvy Oakmonters may enter pies from prized recipes and vie f or the prestigious Blue Ribbon (click here \;for the Pie Contest ent ry form). Take a step back to a simpler time while enjoying ice cream\, cake and lemonade on the timeless porch of the beloved Kerr home and obs erve the show of classic antique cars and the Dexter Wagon. \;If you have not paid a visit in a while\, we invite you to check out our progr ess and see how far we have come in ten years!
