July 18th at 6:30\, join us for a fascinating presentation by Joseph Sz

  to know his father\, Joseph F. Szalanski\, from his meticulously-kept h
obo diary as he traveled the country\, riding the rails in 1932 America.
Young Joseph had immigrated to America from Poland and was killed in a
steel mill accident shortly after his return from hobo life. At the time
of his death\, his son\, young Joseph was only two months old. In Board
ing the Westbound\, Szalanski\, through his father's writings\, takes re
aders into the secret world of the American hobo." We are pleased to wel
come Mr.Szalanski to the Oakmont Carnegie Library to talk about his fath
 er's adventures on the rails!
