Obituaries - Mary Sweeney Scafuri and Mary T. Skerl

Mary Sweeney Scafuri, of Oakmont, died peacefully in her home Monday morning, July 1, 2013, at the age of 53. 

Mary was the beloved wife of Lawrence A. Scafuri Jr; dear daughter of Vivian Colligan Sweeney and the late James Sweeney; sister of Jeaninne Sweeney Payne (Antony), Grace A. Sweeney-Maurer (Dana), Theresa Sweenye-Creighan (Patrick),  Joan Fusia (Tyler), James, Michael , and Daniel (Margareth) Sweeney and the late Francis Sweeney.  Mary is survived by Santina Nash, Larry’s granddaughter, and many devoted nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives will be received during a memorial visitation in BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont on Tuesday July 2, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at which time a blessing service will be held at 8 pm at the conclusion of the visitation. 

The Family suggests memorials to be made to a charity of one’s choice in Mary’s memory. 

Mary T. Skerl, of Penn Hills died Sunday evening June 30, 2013 in her residence, at the age of 96.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Joseph V. Skerl; dear mother of Joan (late Ron) Binkley and Joseph M. Skerl; sister of Fran Bostjancic, Joseph (Eleanor) Marel, and the late Matthew Avcin, Jennie Burrell, John Marel, William and Frank Bostjancic; grandmother of Ron Binkley Mary Beth ( Scott) Gill.

Mary was a sweet gentle soul, a loving wife and mother who was deeply loved by her family, nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was dear to many and will be truly missed by all.  

Special thanks are given to her caregivers: Anna, Megan, Linda and Alli for their constant tender loving care. 

Friends and relatives will be received at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME Cremation & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont Wednesday July 3, 2013 from 6-9.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday July 4, 2013 at 9 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church Verona.
