Obituary - Aloysius William Farabaugh

Aloysius William Farabaugh, Age 82 of Penn Hills, passed from this life on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the age of 82. 

Aloysius was born on his grandparents farm in Cambria County.  He was the son of Vincent and Roselyn Farabaugh; brother of Rosemarie (the late Regis) of IL., Daniel (the late Sallie) of Penn Hills, Ronald (Mary) of NJ and Earl (Cathie) of VA; beloved husband of Martha Brown Farabaugh for 55 years; dear father of Carol Gadson, Colleen Thomas, Lisa Farabaugh, Michael (Diane) Farabaugh, Julie (Tim) Nicholson and Matthew (Cecilia) Farabaugh; grandad of Melissa (Larry) Martin, Chris, Holly, Jacob, John, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Lucia and Elena; great-granddad of Jasmyne, Bernard, Noah and Micah; brother-in-law of Rosann Brown Grieco; also many loving nieces and nephews. 

Al graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in June of 1960 with a BS in electrical engineering.  He was a fraternity member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.  He worked as an engineer in Maryland and Ohio before returning to Pittsburgh to work at Westinghouse.  He joined PPG Glass Research in Harmarville, PA in 1966 and worked there for the next 25 years generating many innovative technology patents.  After retiring, he consulted with his nephews engineering firm as needed.

He was an avid gardener, growing his own plants and tilling his garden for 44 years.  Al was a 45 year member of St. Joseph Church in Verona and was active in his early years teaching 8th grade CCD, serving as a Eucharistic minister and usher as needed.  He volunteered for Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, was a lifelong member of Instrument Society of America and had a Professional Engineering license in PA.  He was also a member of American Legion Post #980 in Plum. 

Friends will be received Monday from 3-8 pm in the English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Avenue, Oakmont, PA, 15139.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Parish, Verona. Interment to follow at Good Sheppard Cemetery.
