Obituary - Bernadette D.“Bernie” Lipovich

Bernadette D. “Bernie” Lipovich, a longtime resident of Oakmont, PA, died Wednesday, August 14th, 2013 in Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, at the age of 69.

Bernie was born in Pittsburgh, PA July 26th, 1944.  A graduate of Penn Hills High School, Bernie earned her bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University, achieving the Dean's List numerous times.  She was a long-time employee of Mesta Machine and its successors, MCS and CareCentric.  She was a computer software analyst, a field that was new and immerging in the 60's and 70's, especially for a woman.  She retired from CareCentric in 2007 after many years of devoted service.

Bernie was the daughter of the late Delia “Stella” and Joseph Lipovich; beloved sister of the late Joseph G. Lipovich.  She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joan K. Lipovich, of Oakmont; aunt of Susan (Martin) Yonnone, Gene (Michele) Lipovich, Julia (Richard) Koeneke, Richard (Lynn) Lipovich, Mary (Thomas) Guinee, Joseph (Beth) Lipovich, Kathy (Jared) Frye, and 19 great-nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by dear, lifelong friends Judy Wright, Erin Wright, and Pat Braden as well as many others that were like family to her.

Consistent with Bernie’s life-long expressions of generosity toward her loved ones and people in need, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation be made to a charity of your choice.

Friends and relatives will be received on Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10 am in St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Oakmont.
