Obituary - Louis Matijak

Louis Matijak, of Cheswick, passed away, at the age of 89, on Monday, August 26, 2013, at UPMC North Hills Passavant Hospital. 

Louis was born in Pittsburgh on September 23, 1923, he was the son of the late George and Anna (Valencic) Matijak; beloved husband for 59 years of Nancy (Mento) Matijak; loving father of Michelle (Ken) Schaper of the North Hills and Francine Matijak of Irvine, CA; brother of Dorothy Siedle of Bridgeville, Cathern (John) Kopelic of Plum, and Jean (Larry) Howard of Holiday Park, and the late George, Joseph, Andrew, and John Matijak, and Ann Zucco. 

Lou was a lifetime member of Springdale Veterans Association, having served in the Army during WWII.  He retired with 38 years of service with Duquesne Light Company.

Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  Springdale Veterans will hold services Thursday Evening at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013, 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sweeden, 2554 Wildwood Road, Allison Park, 15101 with Father Al Zapf as celebrant.   EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH.  Private Entombment will be for the family only in Holy Savior Cemetery, Gibsonia. 

Memorial donations may be made in his name to La Roche College Office of Institutional Advancement, 9000 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
