Obituary - Mary M. Flynn (Berg)

Mary M. Flynn (Berg), of Verona, passed away in her home on Monday, February 17, 2014, at the age of 88.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Bernard W. “Barney” Flynn; loving mother of Bernard W. Flynn, Jr., Edward (Suzanne) Flynn, Colleen (Larry) Light, Robert (Susan) Flynn, Timothy (Linda) Flynn, Lillian (Bruce) Shoupe, Margaret (Dr. Edward) Sweeney, Tom (Kris) Flynn, John (Cindy Lou) Flynn, and the late Michael Flynn; mother-in-law of Fran Flynn; grandmother of 23; great-grandmother of eight; dear sister of the late Nellie, Ann, Grace, Lillian, Fred, Ethel Jacobine, and Jim. 

Mary proudly served in the Army during WWII where she met her husband Barney of 58 years and participated on the Women’s Army Corp softball team.  She attended thousands of athletic events for her children and grandchildren throughout PA and beyond while raising 10 children.  She was also a seamstress at the former Kumers Men’s wear and in her later years enjoyed quilting and collecting fabric.

Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue.  A time of remembrance will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association or a charity of one’s choice.
