Obituary - Thomas J. Leras

Thomas J. Leras, of East Oakmont, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the age of 81. 

Tom was the beloved husband for 47 years of Shirley (Pyle) Leras; uncle of James Nagy, George Leras, Debbie Ciamacca, Robert and Kenneth Slifer.  He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. 

Tom was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Verona, was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and enjoyed fishing and gardening.  Tom was employed at the former Pullman Standard and retired from the former Edgewater Steel Corporation in Oakmont having 30 years of service.

Friends and relatives will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Friday, August 2, 2013 in the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  A blessing service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Plum Creek Cemetery. 

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, 15237 or Heartland Hospice, 3520 Route 130, Irwin, PA, 15642.
