Cambodian Christian Children's Choir to Perform in Oakmont

Cambodian Christian Children's Choir will be at Riverside Community Church on Sunday.

A "Celebration of Hope" is coming to Oakmont.

Residents of the Plum-Oakmont area will have the unique opportunity to learn about Cambodia from the Cambodian Christian Children’s Choir.

Through the "Celebration of Hope" tour, those who visit Riverside Community Church in Oakmont on Sunday, Aug. 18, will have a look at Cambodia's tragedies of the past and the bright future that lies ahead through music. The performances will be at 9 and 11 a.m. The tour is provided through the South East Asia Prayer Center (SEAPC) based in Oakmont.

SEAPC is reaching out to children throughout Cambodia in a variety of ways, including building schools through the Cambodia Christian School Network and partnering with New Hope for Orphans (NHO)—which provides for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of orphans.

The choir consists of 18 youths from five different orphanages within NHO and the 11-year-old daughter of Pastor Sinai Phouek, the founder of NHO. Pastor Sinai and four administrators from Cambodia will accompany the choir.

The choir, which is touring the U.S., will educate people about the Cambodian culture, bring awareness about the needs in Cambodia, share the new hope that can help Cambodia, and to share how  their lives have changed with NHO and Christianity through music and testimonies.
