Celebrate the Fourth of July in Plum-Oakmont and Surrounding Communities
Some fun Fourth of July activities for the family to enjoy.
Independence Day Hot Dog Roast
in Oakmont will host an Independence Day hot dog roast on July 3 at 11 a.m. after the church service.
The church will celebrate America's birthday with an old-fashioned barbecue. Hot dogs with all the fixings, chips, drinks and ice cream will be provided to visitors. The event is open to everyone. For more information, call 412-828-9680 or see www.st-tom.org/independence-day-hot-dog-roast.
Flagpole Dedication at Oakmont Carnegie Library
An American flag has not flown over the for many years due to the deterioration of the library's old flagpole. Thanks to the efforts of the library's director and Board of Directors, funds were procured for a new flagpole and flag.
On July 4 at 10:30 a.m., there will be a dedication ceremony for the new flagpole. Oakmont Mayor Bob Fescemyer and state Rep. Frank Dermody (D-Oakmont) will be at the event. The Squirrel's Nest Bookstore also will be open during the festivities.
Fireworks at the Oakmont Country Club
The on Hulton Road will host a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.
Visitors are welcome watch the display at and the former Oakmont East properties. People can bring blankets and lawn chairs to watch the display.
Police will be on hand to direct motorists and pedestrians.
Monroeville Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks
The Monroeville Independence Day Parade will hold its “Celebrate America” themed parade on July 4 at 9 a.m. It will begin at Miracle Mile Shopping Center on route 22 and proceed West on Route 22 into the Monroeville Mall parking area to the Grandstand, which will be located near the side entrance of Macy's.

The fireworks presentation will begin at 9:30 p.m. at the Monroeville Mall.
