Easter Fun in the Plum-Oakmont & Surrounding Areas

Easter is just around the corner and there are a lot of fun events occurring in the Plum-Oakmont and surrounding areas! Here's a roundup:

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

will be held Saturday, March 31, from 10 a.m. to noon at the William McKinley Citizens Center on the Verona hilltop. The center is at the intersection of Seventh Street and Center Avenue in Penn Hills. The cost for the event is $5 and includes breakfast and a treat from the Easter Bunny. Children ages 2 and younger enter for free when an adult ticket is purchases. There also will be games and surprises. Call 412-828-7350 for reservations or information.

Easter Egg Hunts (ordered by date)

Monroeville—The Monroeville Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at Monroeville Community Park West, 2399 Tilbrook Rd. All children ages 2 to 10 are welcome to attend. There is no cost.

The rec department also will hold a Doggie Easter Egg Hunt & Costume Contest on March 31 at 2:30 p.m. at the Heritage Park dog park along Saunders Station Road. Registration is required. For more information, see www.monroeville.pa.us.

Murrysville—Murrysville’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Townsend Park upper pavilion on Saturday, March 31, at 11 a.m. The park is located along Castalina Court. This is a free event with no registration required.  Bring a basket or bag for each child, so they have something in which to gather plastic eggs hidden in special areas throughout the park. Participants will be divided into appropriate age groups. After the hunt, the children will exchange their eggs for a bag of goodies. In addition to the hunt, there will be refreshments and the opportunity to have pictures taken with the Easter Bunny in the Gazebo.

—The Verona Chamber of Commerce's Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. There is no cost to attend, and it will be held at the park next to the on East Railroad Avenue.

—The church will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. There will be alot of fun things to do for kids of all ages—games, crafts, bouncing castle, face painting, Easter Egg Hunt, free lunch and more. This event will be held rain, snow or shine. For more information go to www.hpbchurch.com.

Penn Hills Free Methodist Church—Children ages 1 to fourth-graders can enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt at Penn Hills Free Methodist Church, 715 Universal Road, on April 7. Registration begins at 1 p.m. For more information, call 412-793-7263.

Photos with the Easter Bunny

Monroeville Mall—Take pictures with the Easter Bunny at the Monroeville Mall through April 7. He will be located at the court near the Steelers Sideline store. Photo hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. The cost of photo packages varies.

Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills—The Easter Bunny will be visiting with children at the Pittsburgh Mills through April 7. He is located in Neighborhood 1. Hours are Monday through Thursday noon to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. Cost varies per package.

The Easter train also will be set up at Macy's Court through April 7.
