Get Out: Pirates, 5K and Regatta

Here are five events to check out this weekend.

Got no idea what you'll do this weekend? Patch is coming to the rescue! We've got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

It's a good idea to have cash ready for these events.

1.
Where?/When?: PNC Park, 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday
Why Go?: The American Liver Foundation will start tailgating at 4 p.m. in the Gold 2 lot across from Bettis Grill. There are free hot dogs, free beer, and free t-shirt night with ticket purchase! 2.
Where?/When?: Boyce Park, 8:30 a.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Stampede in the Park features a 5K and a 1-mile race. Both races are held within Boyce Park. The 5K course consists of rolling hills with a downhill finish. It starts and finishes outside of the Four Seasons Lodge. This year, they will be timing the 5k with disposable chips. Results will be posted at www.runhigh.com. The 1-mile race uses a portion of the 5K course with less emphasis on hills.

Where?/When?: , 10 a.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: The Mystery Lovers Bookshop will welcome a rising star in the mystery field: Allison Leotta. Leotta burst upon the legal thriller scene with Laws of Attraction, a book that introduced young DA Anna Curtis in a case that teste her ethical boundaries and kept readers enthralled. Now, Anna is back in Discretion. The Bookshop invites you to join them for a breakfast to learn more about the author and her novels. The breakfast begins at 10 am and includes a continental breakfast, talk and signing. Reservations are necessary.

Where?/When?: , Friday through Sunday
Why Go?: The Oakmont Regatta will feature many activities all weekend long. Dinner, raffles, paddle boarding, volleyball, kids' activities and more are included in the event list. For more information, click here.

5.
Where/When:Penn Hills Community Park, noon on Saturday
Why Go?: Come out and join New Vision Community Church & St. James Baptist Church for their annual family picnic. This is a Bring Your Own Basket event (B.Y.O.B.). Activities include family fun, games, fellowship, music and prizes.
