Where/When: Laser Hair & Skin Center in Monroeville, Thursday, 5 p.m.
Why Go?: Come meet the knowledgeable staff and learn about all of the great services they offer. There will be demonstrations, refreshments and gift bags!

Where/When: , Thursday, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Why Go?: The Inclusive Story Time for Special Needs Children kicks-off this week at the Oakmont Carnegie Library. This story time is for all special needs children, ages 18 and younger, their siblings and families. This program features snacks, a themed story and a craft. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: , Thursday, 2 to 6 p.m.
Why go?: There are only a few weeks left, so take advantage of this local market! The Verona Farmer's Market is held on Thursdays at the park next to the borough building from 2 to 6 p.m. Vendors interested in participating should call Rhoda Gemellas-Worf at 412-828-3607.

Where/When: Downtown Pittsburgh, Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why Go?: Animal Friends' shelter dogs will be stationed throughout downtown Pittsburgh  “begging” for spare change and barking about the importance of licensing your pet. People can also donate $10 simply by texting the word “Paw” to 85944 all day long! Animal Friends will also accept donations of cash and check. Pet lovers who show us a picture of their pet will receive a coupon for a free treat from Animal Friends' retail store. The dogs’ goal is to raise $2,500 for Animal Friends in one day, and introduce people to some adoptable dogs along the way. Animal Friends’ volunteers will be on the other ends of the leashes, collecting donations and answering questions about pet adoption and reasons to tag and license your dog. Many donors will be photographed for Animal Friends’ website and Facebook.

Where/When: , Saturday, 1 p.m.
Why go?: The Riverview Varsity Football team will play against Avonworth High School. The Athletic Department urges game attendees to visit highschoolsports.net for the latest updates before leaving for an event, as all schedules are subject to change with very little notice.

Where/When: Home Depot, Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon
Why Go?: The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children. In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons and an achievement pin. This week's project is an Fire Rescue Helicopter.

Why Go?: Michael Sims returns to MLB for a Coffee & Crime author breakfast! Sims will be at the store with his latest book: The Story of Charlotte's Web: E.B. White's Eccentric Life in Nature and the Birth of an American Classic. Sims has produced a fascinating story about one of the most interesting personalities in American literature and the author of one of the enduring classics of children’s literature. MLB invites you to join the breakfast to learn more about the author and his many works of non-fiction. The breakfast begins at 10 a.m. and includes a continental breakfast, talk and signing. Reservations are necessary.

Why Go?: Enjoy a night of music and drinks! The band "Into the Arena" will perform at Zanderz Sports Bar at located in the Plum Borough.

Where/When: The Boulevard Gallery, Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m.  
Why Go?: The Boulevard Arts Gallery October Exhibit is "Back to the Drawing Board" by James Bodnar. The exhibit also features work from Diane Dube, Steve Lylle, Roz Santacicca and Marrian Sallade.

Where/When: , Sunday, 4:30 p.m.
Why Go?: People and their pets are invited to gather in the church for a short service, which includes the individual blessing of each animal and its owner.  The service has a few short hymns, one reading, a couple prayers, a short homily and the blessing.  It is a lot of fun as the pets join in the hymns to make their own joyful noise unto the Lord.  By long tradition, the offering given at this service goes to the local Animal Rescue League.  Come and bring a friend (and an animal)!
