Here are our top picks for weekend fun!

Welcome to the new and improved Get Out Weekend Planner. We recently combined the Grab & Go Kids Planner with Get Out for a one-stop shop for fun weekend planning.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

1. Screen-Free Week

Where/When: Nationwide, Apr. 18 to 24

Did you know that this week is Screen-Free week? Across the country families are making the conscious decision to turn off the television and other electronic devices and spending time together as a family. If you haven’t participated in this event yet, do so this weekend.

Where/When: , Thursday, 9:30 a.m.

Why Go: First time walkers will receive a pedometer and t-shirt. The walk will begin at the library and head around the perimeter of the parking lot at the library, community center and apartments. This program is sponsored by the Allegheny County Library Association in partnership with AARP and Highmark PALS program.

Where/When:  , Thursday, 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Caregivers are invited to stop by the Caring Circle. The group will share food, conversation and information. Please call to RSVP.

Why Go?: Steel City Rowing Club in Verona is offering a promotion for anyone who is interested in the sport and would like to give it a try. Come to any three of the coached practices for free, with no obligation.

Why Go?: Dr. Cora Hopkins will lead this session of gentle yoga. Dress comfortably and bring a floor covering. The class is held in the Red Oak Room.

Why Go?: Mighty Oak Barrel is celebrating Earth Day with organic and sustainable wine specials and dinner specials featuring Community Supported Agriculture.

Why Go: During Lent, bring your family to the fish fry at the local fire department. Support the department and enjoy a great meal. Fish fries also are available at Holiday Park and Unity fire departments.

Why Go?: Participants will learn practical self-defense techniques for ages 14 and up, male and female. This is a four-week class taught by a certified instructor.

Why Go?: The band "Back in the Day" will perform at Zanderz Sports Bar in Palmieri's Restaurant.
