Get Out Weekend Planner: Yoga, Plant Swap and Twin Boro Races

Here are our top picks for this weekend.

Welcome to the new and improved Get Out Weekend Planner. We recently combined the Grab & Go Kids Planner with Get Out for a one-stop shop for fun weekend planning.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Why Go: First time walkers will receive a pedometer and T-shirt. The walk will begin at the library and head around the perimeter of the parking lots at the library, community center and apartments. This program is sponsored by the Allegheny County Library Association in partnership with AARP and Highmark PALS program.

Where/When: , Thursday, 5:15 p.m.
Why Go?: Dr. Cora Hopkins will lead this session of gentle yoga. Dress comfortably and bring a floor covering. The class is held in the Red Oak Room.
Pricing: Free.

Why Go?: The Plum Community Library is hosting a plant swap on the Library Patio. For every plant you bring, you take one home! Make sure to label your plants. No registration is necessary.

Why Go?: Opera lovers will enjoy this Opera in Cinema! Aidais sung in Italian with English subtitles. The other show time is at 2 p.m on Sunday.

Why Go?: This showing is part of Oak's Theater's 9th Annual Moonlit Matinee film festival, presented with the support of the ScareHouse. Seven will also play at 12 a.m on Saturday. There will be nightly door prizes!

Why Go?: Youth Mission is holding a car wash to raise funds for their program at Oakmont Presbyterian Church.

Why Go?: The band "8th Street Rox" will perform at Zanderz Sports Bar in .

Why Go?: Oakmont Borough Recreation Committee is holding its annual 5K Run & Cycle Race. Race-day registration begins at 12 p.m. at the football stadium. The race will begin at 1:30 p.m.Register online now.
Pricing: Registration fee is $15 with a race T-shirt while supplies last.

Why Go?: The 4th Annual Riverview Grand Prix will begin at Oaks Theater and end at the finish line on Allegheny River Boulevard. The event is sponsored by Three Rivers Bicycle Club and Borough of Oakmont.  

Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. at Oaks Theater. There will be a $200 prize for the top five finishers in each USCF race. .
Pricing: $25 cash; Non USCF is free.
