Local Churches to Hold Ash Wednesday Services

Wednesday marks the first day of the 2012 Lent season. Here's a list of Ash Wednesday services in Plum, Oakmont and Verona:

PLUM

Our Lady of Joy ParishThere will be services at 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. a Liturgy of the Word will be held at 4 p.m. Ashes will be distributed after the homily during these Liturgies.

Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church—Ashes will be distributed during the 7 a.m., 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. services.

OAKMONT

Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church—Ashes will be distributed at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon and 7 p.m. services.

Saint Thomas Episcopal Church— Ash Wednesday services will be held at 7 a.m., 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. In addition, a service will be held in the chapel of St. Margaret Hospital in Aspinwall at noon. 

Oakmont Presbyterian Church—Worship at 7:30 p.m. will focus on God Does Not Come Uninvited.

Oakmont United Methodist Church—Ash Wednesday service at will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Redeemer Lutheran Church—Ash Wednesday service will be held at at 7:30 p.m.

VERONA

St. Joseph Catholic Church— Services will be at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
