Oakmont Rec Board Keeps Community Updated Via Facebook

The ice skating rink at in was expected to open during the week of Christmas.

Close to one month later, the rink still is closed due to see-sawing, warmer-than-average temperatures.

The Oakmont Recreation Board, which manages all Oakmont parks and the ice rink, created a Facebook page that will give daily updates to those who "like" the page.

According to updates over the weekend, board members hoped to open the rink this past Saturday, but the ice was slushy and there still were some cracks.
