Patch Pets: Meet Archie

Archie is a fun guy who deserves a second chance.

Archie turned up at the Animal Rescue League after being abandoned outside.

He is very playful and still has a lot of puppy energy. He is hoping to find an active home where he will get lots of exercise and attention.

Archie, which the Rescue League believes he is about a year old, is a smart boy and already seems to know some skills. He is able to sit and give paw for treats and appears to be house-trained. Archie responds well to verbal praise and is a real people-pleaser. He does walk fairly nicely on a leash and is constantly checking on his handler to make sure he is doing the right thing.

Archie has shown some guarding issues around food and his blankets and toys while in his cage. We had worked hard on breaking him of these habits, and he has done very well at eliminating this behavior. If Archie is redirected, he immediately goes into a sit. He is very responsive and is working hard on his "watch me" and "leave it" commands as well. He is very eager to please and has done a great job!

Archie recently had a 'sleepover' at a volunteer’s house and got a glowing report. He didn't have any accidents in the house. He was respective and friendly toward the other dogs in the home. And he also enjoyed cuddle time on the couch with his human friends.
