Plum-Oakmont Events to Celebrate Valentine's Day

In honor of Valentine's Day next Tuesday, Feb. 14, here is a look at the local events you and your family can attend to celebrate the loving holiday.

1. Cine Brunch: "Annie Hall"
Where/When? , Saturday, at 10 a.m.
Why Go? This special Valentine's Day Cine Brunch will feature Woody Allen's classic love story. Guests are invited to enjoy a delicious light brunch provided by . The brunch begins at 10 a.m., and a brief introduction to the film will be presented by the Oakmont Carnegie Library at 11 a.m. Food for the brunch is first come, first serve.
Pricing: $12 for brunch and film/$6 for the film only. Brunch tickets will be on sale until 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets for the brunch must be purchased in advance on www.theoakstheater.com.

2. Children's Valentine's Party
Where/When? , Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Why Go? There will be crafts, snacks, short DVDs and fun at the library on Saturday. No registration is needed and there is no cost to attend.

3. Family Fun Night—Valentine's Crafts
Where/When? , Valentine's Day, at 6:30 p.m.
Why Go? Join the library for a splendiferous time as they get fancy with Fancy Nancy. Children ages 2 and older, and their families, are invited for stories, games, and a snack. To register, call 412-798-7323. Space is limited, and there is no cost to attend.

4. Zombie Valentine's Day Dance
Where/When? , Saturday, 8:30 p.m.
Why Go? The event, hosted by Steel City Zombies, is a fundraiser for Fix the Chapel, and effort to save the Evans City Cemetery Chapel, which appears in the opening scene of"Night of the Living Dead."
Pricing: The cost is $3, and most door proceeds, as well as shot specials, raffles, etc. will be donated directly to the Fix the Chapel efforts.

5. Valentine Candlelight Tea
Where/When: Alexandra's Tea Room, 931 Pittsburgh St. in Springdale, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and Valentine's Day.
Why Go? Nancy Pursh of Plum owns Alexandra's Tea Room, which is offering an evening candlelight event with a special menu. Reservations are required. Call 724-274-4490 or e-mail alextearoom@verizon.net to reserve a spot on either date.
Pricing: $25 per person.
