Plum Teachers, Chamber Host Halloween Events for Local Causes

Both events will be held the weekend of Oct. 26. See how you can contribute to two great local causes.

This Halloween, two Plum organizations are hoping to raise money for local causes.

The Plum Chamber of Commerce's "After Hours" Halloween party event on Friday, Oct. 26, will raise money for the Plum Borough Emergency Medical Services and the four fire departments—Holiday Park, Unity, Renton and Logan's Ferry Heights.

The Plum Borough Education Association is hosting the second-annual Fall Festival Parade in the Park on Sunday, Oct. 28, to benefit a Plum family affected by a fatal car accident earlier this year.

Chamber Halloween Party

The fall fundraiser will be held on Oct. 26 at the Plum Masonic Hall, 9521 Saltsburg Road, from 7 to 11 p.m. The cost is $25 to attend, and it includes entertainment, food, beverages, costume contests, raffles and networking opportunities. Tickets are limited.

David Johnson of D. Johnson Insurance Agency (Erie Insurance), Tracy Mitchell of Holiday Park Apartments and the Plum Chamber of Commerce are hosting this event.

The chamber is seeking sponsorships and donations for the event. Anyone interested in helping or more information can contact Johnson at 412-744-4800/David@DJohnsonInsurance.net or Mitchell at 724-733-4550.

PBEA Halloween Parade

This family-friendly parade at the Boyce Park ski lodge will include a Halloween parade, trick-or-treating, children's activities, music, games, food, raffles and more. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the parade begins at noon. There is no cost to attend, but donations are accepted.

This year's festival—the second-annual event—will be held in memory of , who all drowned in during a flash flood on Washington Boulevard last year.

The $25,000 proceeds from last year's event went toward the Griffith family.

However, this year's event will benefit the Beilstein family of Plum. Donations will go toward the Beilstein Children Memorial Fund, which was created in May after Christine Beilstein, 45, died in a tragic car accident in Penn Hills.

Beilstein's 9-year-old son, Justin, suffered serious injuries in the crash and continues to receive treatment for them. Justin is a fourth-grader at Regency Park Elementary School.

"It's a fun event, and we can help two families now," said district teacher J.R. Pilyih.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the event or making a donation can contact Pilyih at 412-337-5299 or mail contributions to Regency Park Elementary School, c/o J.R. Pilyih, 606 Millers Lane, Pittsburgh PA 15239.

Sponsorship forms for both events have been attached to the media section of this article.
