Reminder: Inbound Route 28 to Close at Millvale this Weekend

This is the second closure, and motorists should expect significant delays.

You might want to avoid Route 28 inbound this weekend.

The highway will be closed at the Millvale Interchange (Exit 3) in Millvale this weekend, Sept. 28 to Oct. 1, weather permitting.

The closure will occur from 8 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday. Traffic will be detoured using the southbound on-off ramps at the interchange. Police will assist with traffic control to keep the detour routes moving. Crews will continue work to replace expansion dams, repair and mill and resurface the bridges that carry southbound Route 28 over the Millvale interchange.

The following additional weekend closures are tentatively scheduled to occur on southbound Route 28:

  • Oct. 5 to 8
  • Oct. 12 to 15

Additional Work

Overnight single lane traffic on southbound Route 28 at the Millvale Interchange (Exit 3) in Millvale will continue through Oct. 29.

Southbound traffic will be reduced to a single, 12-foot wide lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday nights.

In addition, overnight closures of the ramp from Millvale to northbound Route 28 will also occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday to Friday nights through late October. Traffic will be detoured using the 40th Street Bridge to Butler Street to the Highland Park Bridge to northbound Route 28. 

Crews continue work to improve bridges and pavements on Route 28 at the Millvale interchange.
