Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church Festival Begins Thursday

Here's a look at what you can enjoy during this year's festival.

Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church in Oakmont will kick off its parish festival on Thursday.

The festival, which will be held at the Maryland Avenue church, opens Thursday, Aug. 9, and runs through Saturday, Aug. 11. Dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., and a flea market and games will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. each night.

There will be a balloon artist, face painter and DJ at the festival each evening. There also will be several booths, games, auctions and food.

The church also is looking for Chinese raffle donations and volunteers to help with the festival.  Anyone who wishes to donate a hand-crafted item or theme baskets is asked to drop it off today, Aug. 8, at Blough Hall from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Volunteers are needed for festival setup and cleanup. Setup begins tonight at 6. Volunteers will set up and wire the game booths for electricity, decorate the booths, hang signs and more.

Cleanup will be held after the festival ends on Aug. 11. Booths will be dismantled beginning at 10 p.m. To volunteer, please contact Ruthie Lewandowski at 412-616-2671.

Festival Flea Market

Aside from the normal festival hours, there will be two more opportunities for visitors to shop at the flea market.

A flea market presale will be held Aug. 8 beginning at 10 a.m. An after sale will be held Aug. 12 at 9 a.m.

Volunteers are needed to set up and to dismantle the flea market. To donate items to the flea market or to volunteer, call Elaine Grabowski at 412-828-8515.
